Birth Support

The Birthing Pool

The Birthing Pool

My birth package includes 2 prenatal visits, support during your labour and until you and baby are settled, and a postnatal visit usually within 10 days of the birth.  During our prenatal meetings we will discuss your birth options, work on your birth plan, and discuss how we can make your birth a positive, and empowering experience.  During the labour I will help you to feel safe and supported, making you comfortable with massage, acupressure or cold compresses, and helping you and your partner advocate for yourselves.  I will stay until breastfeeding is established.  In the 10 days after the birth I will make 1 postnatal visit, which will give you an opportunity to process the birth and to ask questions about breastfeeding or newborn care.

Postnatal Support

We will meet prenatally to create a personalised postnatal support plan. Once your baby is born we will schedule visits typically 3 or 4 hours in length.  The goal of my work is to nurture you and your family and to give you confidence in your parenting skills: helping you adjust to your new lives as parents, giving you a chance to re-charge, offering guidance on newborn cues, supporting you on your breastfeeding journey and much more!

Breastfeeding Support

If you would like to breastfeed your baby, but are finding it challenging, reaching out for support early is so important. I offer home visits where I can sit with you and offer a listening ear.  I will provide you with evidence-based information about breastfeeding and if you would like I will observe a feed and provide guidance on positioning, improving your baby’s latch, establishing and maintaining a healthy milk supply, and more!

My own breastfeeding journey was hugely influential on my new life path.  After initial fears that I might not be able to breastfeed, I learned the value of having a wide support network and being able to share my struggles and joy with other breastfeeding mothers.  My breastfeeding support service is non-judgmental and meets you wherever you are in your journey. Whether your breastfeeding goals are long or short-term, whether you are breastfeeding, exclusively pumping, or mixed feeding, I will provide friendly, evidence-based support.  For more complex issues, I will refer you to an IBCLC.

I certified as a Lactation Counselor in New York and recently completed a year-long IBCLC preparation course with Indira Lopez-Bassols of Breastfeeding London.  I have also volunteered as an infant feeding peer supporter at the Royal Sussex Hospital. My breastfeeding support home visits typically last 2 hours, but I will stay as long as necessary to observe a feed and support you. The visit costs £50 with an additional charge depending on travel time that can be discussed on booking.

Prenatal + Birth Consultations

If you are trying to conceive or have recently become pregnant and would like expert guidance on all your birthing options, I offer a one-to-one session to give you the latest information and tips. Similarly, if you have decided against doula support, I offer a one-to-one session to help empower your birth partner to be a wonderful advocate and support - both physically and emotionally - for you during your birth.
